Whatcha Wearin?

That’s the repeated topic of conversation between Raff and me this holiday season, during a month full of holiday gatherings with friends and family. Raff is far and away the better dressed of the two of us, so it’s usually me asking that question — I just try to keep up.

Strangely, on this Advent journey of learning how to hope again, this Sunday’s gospel asks us that same question: What are you wearing? With what are you clothed? How is that helping you? How is that hurting you? And what does this have to do with the Messiah whose coming we are looking forward to?
