SUICIDE PREVENTION FORUM – SEPTEMBER 12 - 7:00PM

Suicide completion rates have surged to a 30-year high, and 1 in 4 people report a mental health crisis in their lives. In the US alone, over 121 individuals complete suicide on a daily basis.  Join us on September 12th as Hope for the Day (an organization started by Stevenson High Grads) helps us explore how we can be proactive in our community to break the silence around mental health, and prevent suicide completions. Lake County United will also share how we have helped bring mental health crisis centers to Lake County. This forum is also co-sponsored by Congregation BJBE, Holy Cross Catholic, and NorthShore Unitarian Church.

JOYFUL NOISE SUNDAY – SEPTEMBER 22 - 10AM

In the second installation of our new Joyful Noise series, we will continue to shake up our service with a fusion of traditional worship and non-traditional music! This time, the music has been selected from your own submissions of "secular hymns" in the country, bluegrass, and contemporary Christian genres. Come and connect with the Holy Spirit and each other in a new way - bring a friend for the fun!

SOCIAL MEDIA SUNDAY – SEPTEMBER 29

·         Our Youth Missioners will be sharing during both services. Be sure to come and support them and hear about our summer trip!

·         GENIUS BAR in Founder’s Hall – Learn how to support St. Gregory’s online and share our amazing community with others.

PUMPKINS ARRIVE - SEPTEMBER 29 - 4:30 PM (approx)

Our semi-truck will arrive with our pumpkins and we will need all hands on deck to unload! A pizza dinner will be served to all the workers when we are finished.  Please sign up in Founders' Hall so Shelley can text or call when we get more solid information about when the truck will arrive.

HARRY POTTER WEEKEND – FEBRUARY 15-17

Expecto Patronum!!! If you love Harry Potter (or want to understand why others do) plan to join us for a Harry Potter weekend at the Castle at Stronghold in Oregon, IL over President's Day weekend (February 15-17, 2020). There will be four churches combining for a weekend at Hogwarts! Adults with no kids are welcome. Families are welcome, and teens will have their own space too! Mark your calendars so you don't plan anything else for that weekend! Get ready for butter beer, chocolate frogs and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans!

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE SALLY CRAIG MEMORIAL LIBRARY

The Sally Craig Memorial Library has three new books by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry: The Power of Love, Crazy Christians, and Songs My Grandma Sang.  He is a powerful writer and the books are wonderful. We have two copies of each, so don't hesitate to come check them out.   Also new in the library is Meredith Woods Potter's book - written with her son Willis - about the Woods family's history, beginning with their Quaker origins.  It's a fascinating read for all, especially for those who know and love Meredith.  The books are displayed on the shelf just inside the door.

JOIN THE GROVERS BIBLE STUDY FELLOWSHIP - TONIGHT

Beginning in September, we will be meeting regularly on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month in Founders Hall at 7pm.  So mark your calendars for September 11(tonight) and September 25 and join the group for bible study and fellowship.  We are currently studying the Epistle to the Ephesians. Visitors and newcomers are welcome to join at any time.  You don’t need to live in Buffalo Grove!!

BOOK CLUB SELECTIONS – SEPTEMBER 18 AT 7PM

All are welcome to join the St. G’s Book Club that meets in the Conference Room at 7pm.
September 18 – “A Woman of No Importance” by Sonia Purnell AND “The 57 Bus” by Dashka Slater
October 16 – “Everything Happens for a Reason and Other Lies I've Loved” by Kate Bowler

TRAVEL TOILETRY DONATIONS NEEDED

Thanks to travel toiletry donations made by St. Gregory's parishioners, guests have been able to receive personal care packs at the Community Meal program in Waukegan. Please continue to donate unused toiletry items in the box located in Founders Hall by the Eagle Scout plaques. Thank you for your help!
