Parish Newsletter

Welcome to the weekly parish newsletter of St. Gregory's Episcopal Church in Deerfield, Illinois.

Parish Newsletter 8/7/19 - BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS on AUGUST 18 AT 10AM

THIS SUNDAY AT ST. G’S

8am – Worship

9am – Formation is off for the summer!

10am – Worship

11am – Coffee Hour (if no volunteer, there will not be a coffee hour this week)

Coffee Hour is the first chance visitors have to really get to know our parish, and the best chance we all have to get to know each other better. Community is built over food and drink, just like Jesus did everywhere he went. Some hosts bring their own food (we all love the assortments that include protein and sweets!), and others thaw food from the freezer. The main responsibility is to set out coffee, mugs and food, then greet people at coffee hour, and clean up afterwards. If you are interested in hosting, or would like to co-host with someone else, sign up in Founder’s Hall, or email Mother Anne anne@stgregoryschurch.org.

Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16
Luke 12:32-40

DON’T BE SCAMMED BY EMAIL – CAREFULLY CHECK THE SENDING ADDRESS!

I need urgent help! Please send gift cards! Sound familiar? A great deal of email scams pretend to be clergy in need of help. They say that your priest needs urgent help of some variety and ask you to respond quickly. When you do, your email gets a virus. I promise, I will call or text you if I need urgent help – and will NEVER email you to ask you to buy gift cards urgently. PLEASE check the sending email address – the only one I use for church business is anne@stgregoryschurch.org – even if it is similar, it is not me. If you have received a suspicious email and responded to it, please change your email password right away. Always, always, always look at the sending email address. When in doubt, do not respond via email. I’m so sorry these keep happening, and unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to prevent it – we can only be alert and not respond.   – Anne+

BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS - AUGUST 18 AT 10AM

WELCOME BACK TO CARUSO AND WILMOT STUDENTS/PARENTS - AUGUST 19, 7:30-9:00AM

Let’s welcome our elementary and middle school neighbors back to school! We will have coffee, juice, doughnut holes (of course), and fun signs to use for photo opportunities. This is a great opportunity for St. Gregory’s to tell our neighbors how much they mean to us – so please join us on the corner of Wilmot and Deerfield!

BACK TO SCHOOL GAME NIGHT – AUGUST 16 AT 6PM

Sign up for our Back To School Game Night with Christ United Methodist Church!
