THIS SUNDAY AT ST. G’S – PANCAKE AND BROADWAY SUNDAY

8AM – WORSHIP

9AM - FORMATION FOR ALL AGES

10AM – WORSHIP

The 10am service will have music chosen entirely from well-known Broadway musicals, and played by a professional jazz trio! You'll get to sing along with selections from Les Miserables, Rent, Godspell, and more. Listen with fresh ears to the profound messages that are shared in the context of liturgy instead of plot!

11:15AM - PANCAKE BRUNCH

Pancake Sunday is a much beloved St. Gregory’s tradition. Rather than a Fat Tuesday party, we have pancakes the Sunday before Lent begins. The pancake brunch will be immediately following the 10am service.

FEED THE HUNGRY RED BAGS GO TO DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP

They are in need of: jelly, canned carrots and canned peas, canned stews, canisters of oatmeal, baking items (flour, sugar, etc.) cookies and crackers, condiments, toothpaste, deodorant, paper towels and toilet paper. Remember to pick up some red bags from church and fill them when you shop.

LENT IS COMING

ASH WEDNESDAY – MARCH 6 – SERVICES AT 7AM, NOON, 7PM IN THE CHAPEL

Ash Wednesday is the liturgical start to the season of Lent. It occurs 40 days (not including Sundays) before Easter. We observe Ash Wednesday by putting ashes on our heads to remind us of our mortality as we head into this penitential season. Observing Lent through liturgy, prayer, penitence, and fasting (food or otherwise) helps us connect with God in the suffering of Christ – it also makes the joy of Easter more profound. Join us to begin our Lenten observance at one of our three liturgies.

LENTEN FAITH STUDY FOR ADULTS – REGISTER TODAY!

Join a small group for a six-week study of how faith informs our lives and is connected to our wellness (mind, soul, heart, and strength). We will be using the Living Compass curriculum (developed in Diocese of Chicago). Two adult groups will meet during Lent: one for adults at noon on Wednesdays, and one specifically designed for parents at 7pm on Wednesdays. Both start Wednesday, March 13. The Noon study goes through April 17, and the parent study goes one week longer (we will take spring break week off). Please register by contacting Charlene Vanderhulst (parish@stgregoryschurch.org).

INTERFAITH PILGRIMAGE TO ISRAEL – IMPORTANT INFORMATION (3/17 AT 9AM, 3/19 AT 6:15PM)

St. Gregory’s is going to the Holy Land with Congregation BJBE October 19-30, 2020. On Sunday, March 17th, our Adult Forum will be about Pilgrimage as a spiritual practice, and we will also have some information about this upcoming pilgrimage. Tuesday, March 19th at 6:15, we will gather at Congregation BJBE on Lake Cook Road to talk more in depth about the trip, and to begin to meet and be in conversation with our fellow travelers. All interested are invited to both sessions.

CHRIST UNITED “LOVE FEAST” – FRIDAY, MARCH 8, 6-7:30PM

The friends we made from Christ United Methodist Church at our Parish Game Night have invited us to join in a Methodist "Love Feast." This is a meal that includes hymns, prayers and fellowship. There will also be a Family Activity for folks of all ages! Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. It will be a great way to grow our friendship with our neighborhood churches.

KNITTING MINISTRY - 3RD TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH, 6 PM

The Knitting Ministry meets at 6:00 pm on the Third Tuesday of each month. Knitters of all skill level are welcome. Come and learn to knit or come and teach. We have supplies so just show up! We'll be making more prayer shawls to give to folks who are in the hospital, ill, injured and gifts for our high school graduates as they go off to college. Come for fellowship and creativity. The prayer shawls that are already finished will be blessed at the 10:00 service on March 3! Come see them and get inspired to help!
