CHILDRENS' PIZZA NIGHTS – SEPTEMBER 14

Starting in September, we will have kids 1st grade - 7th grade meet on the second Friday of every month at 5:30-7:00 pm for food, fun and fellowship! This will be a pre-youth group type of gathering. Parents please plan to stay for the first 15 minutes on September 14 so we can talk about future food arrangements.

SUNDAY MORNING FORMATION FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS BEGINS SEPTEMBER 16 at 9:00AM!

We are excited about our plan for Christian Formation this year. The adults and children will focus on Practicing our Fatih, and developing Spiritual Practices that help us in our faith journey. The children will focus on fundamental bible stories and the fathers and mothers of our faith. Our Formation calendar includes so much more than just Sunday morning: We will have Faith Labs (where we explore spiritual practices in more depth), and short-term Bible Studies throughout the year. Look for a Formation brochure that gives a detailed description of the topic for each Sunday, and our other offerings.

A LIGHT TO THE NATIONS – EMPOWERED IN SPIRIT & COMMUNITY – SEPTEMBER 28-30

We are joining with the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Lincolnshire for a weekend of exploring how God calls faith communities to live and serve in community. Two well-known Lutheran theologians and pastors, David Tiede and Kathryn Tiede, will lead the weekend and invite us into deeper reflection on our calling and purpose.

Friday, September 28 – Reception at 6:30, Dinner and Teaching 7-9PM - $20 per person (assistance available)

Saturday, September 29 – Teaching, box lunch, and intergenerational service project 9AM – 4PM

Sunday, September 30 – The Rev. Dr. David Tiede will preach at both services, and teach at the Adult Forum at 9AM

COMMUNITY MEALS – THIS SUNDAY!

We will once again have the opportunity to serve our neighbors in Waukegan at the Soup Kitchen. We meet at Christ Church, Waukegan at noon to prepare and serve lunch. Clean up takes until 3:30pm. We need volunteers as some of our regulars are not available. Contact Barb Schaper if you are available to help in any way (bschaper7@aol.com).

BOOK CLUB – SEPTEMBER 19 AT 7PM

On September 19th, the book club will be reviewing the book “Outliers: The Story of Success” by Malcolm Gladwell. All are welcome to join in lively discussion. On October 18, the group will discuss “Letters of Note” by Saun Usher. The book club meets on the 3rd Wednesdays of each month at 7pm, in the Conference Room, at St. Gregory’s. November’s meeting will be rescheduled due to the holiday.

PUMPKINS ARE COMING!!  - OCTOBER 6 (WE HOPE!)

The truck loaded with pumpkins is scheduled to arrive on October 6 in the afternoon. This is an approximate date and time, as we never know exactly how traffic will be, and where the truck may be delayed in route. Everyone is invited to help us unload the truck and set up the pumpkin patch. Many hands make this work a lot easier! We will provide food and beverages for hungry workers – plus it’s FUN. To sign up, email Shelley (shelley@stgregoryschurch.org) and include your cell number, or sign up in Founders’ Hall. We will contact you when we have exact times.

Also be on the lookout to sign up for shifts selling pumpkins.

EPISCOPAL HURRICANE RELIEF FUND

We respond to storms in the United States and U.S. territories through our U.S. Disaster Program. Through our partnerships with Episcopal dioceses, we offer resources and training to help people prepare for disasters and provide emergency support so vulnerable people can make a sustained recovery after the storm. The benefit of our partnership with Episcopal churches is that these congregations are already deeply integrated within their communities. In other words, the Episcopal Church is there before responders arrive and will remain long after the news cameras have gone. You can help provide critical relief to affected communities by donating to our Hurricane Relief Fund. To donate and read the latest updates, visit https://support.episcopalrelief.org/hurricane-relief
