VESTRY MEETING NEWS
Our Vestry met on August 14 and approved the following:
● Church Bell Repair funded by an Anonymous Donor. Notice the quiet at the top of the hour? That’s because the bell located on the roof of the Church building no longer rings. But great news. A donor family has committed to funding a complete overhaul and new control system. The bell will be lowered from its support structure by crane and transported to the original supplier in Cincinnati, Ohio for repairs. The new bell will hopefully be operating by Christmas.
● New Visual Representation Image for St. Gregory’s. Our awesome new logo will become a recognizable symbol that we will utilize across all communication platforms such as social media, print materials, and outdoor signage. We want to thank the dedicated communication team of Vanessa Fjeldheim and Maggie Nodland who worked on this exciting initiative. A hand-painted version of the new image is on the Welcome sign we will all decorate in Founders’ Hall after the service – which we will use to welcome the children, parents, and teachers back to school on August 20,.
● 2019 Budget Development Task Force. The Vestry chartered a team of parishioners - Art Bielski, Don Braun and Cherie Thompson - to guide the development of our 2019 expense budget. They will be working with the various staff and volunteer people who have expense responsibilities to prepare and present their budgets focusing on how their activities will help us achieve our mission of radiating God's grace and equipping all people to change the world.

In an America that seems to be fracturing along cultural, political, and geographical lines, we have the opportunity to act bravely and wisely by learning with and from people who think and act differently than we do. Over the course of this year, we will hear from clergy and leaders from many faith traditions. We will learn about their history, their inspirational texts, the major tenets of their theology, and what teachings their tradition can bring to bear on the most important questions and challenges of religious life in 21st Century America. Symposium will be taught by some of Chicagoland’s leading clergy, including our rector, Anne Jolly! BJBE is inviting members of congregations to join them in this informative series. We hope we will get to know our neighbors through learning, conversation, and, of course, a little nosh. You are welcome to any and all of the sessions!
Registration is available online: https://bjbe.shulcloud.com/form/symposium1819.
